Oystercatchers Coffee Morning raises over £10,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support

Posted by

Macmillan Coffee Morning 2013Friday saw a glittering gathering from the marketing and advertising industry at Sir Paul Judge’s Pimlico penthouse to raise funds for Macmillan.  It is part of Macmillan’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning, the charity’s biggest fundraising event.

Hosted by Suki, our coffee morning and fiercely contested cake competition, now in its third year, brought together over 150 senior marketers, Oystercatchers Club agency members and industry influencers for champagne, coffee, raffle – and the bake off.

We welcomed guests from TK Maxx, Vodafone, Saatchi & Saatchi, Proximity, Draft FCB, CHI, Virgin Media, Publicis, OgilvyOne, the Telegraph Group, Havas, Engine, BBH, Karmarama, Betfair, Isobar, Parlophone, Premier Foods, Intercontinental Hotels and many more.

Meanwhile, outstandingly delicious creations whipped, whisked and baked by everyone from BBH to Brothers & Sisters, CHI to Adam&Eve DDB, LBi, TBWA and more than forty top notch teams were viewed and sampled by a panel of hungry agency CEOs and marketing directors charged with judging the best cakes, brownies, sponges and trifles.

Hilary Cross, Macmillan’s Director of External Affairs, observed…..“the passion and enthusiasm shown by everyone today for Macmillan has been incredible. We are truly delighted that Oystercatchers, Suki, Sir Paul and so many agencies came together to support the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning. Their generous support will help Macmillan’s work to help people affected by cancer. The quality and variety of cakes was amazing!”

Our winners were:

Best chocolate cake: Engine. Baked by Sarah.

Best decorated cake: Rapp. Baked by Margaret Wagner.

Best non-cake (biscuits, muffins etc): The Marketing Society. Baked by Sarah.

Best non-chocolate cake: TK Maxx. Baked by Deborah Dolce.

Best cake made by an Under 16: Proximity. Baked by the McCaroll children (13 & 8)

Suki Thompson said “I’m stunned and humbled by the level of support shown for Macmillan Cancer Support by the Marketing and Advertising industry. I know personally how much good Macmillan does, and I know that the support shown today will go a long way to changing and improving the lives of others”.

And a big thank you to our sponsors:
