Oystercatchers Club – 30th May
Join us in conversation on 30th May, as Oystercatchers Club meets to discuss how the industry can attract and nurture the next generation of talent.
A mere 3% of recently surveyed 18-24 year olds see marketing as the best career option. STEM prioritisation on the core curriculum; waning industry reputation; reports of stagnant pay are all factors acerbating the problem.
Meanwhile, the creative industries sector contributed £91.8 billion GVA to the UK economy – bigger than the automotive, life sciences, aerospace, oil and gas sectors combined.
A conundrum: our industry is growing but its appeal to young people is dropping off the scale.
Where are we going wrong? And what are we doing to put this right – fast? Our next Oystercatchers Club evening will grapple with this issue from 6.15pm on Tuesday 30th May.
Our panellists include:
• Sir Anthony Seldon, Leading contemporary historian, educationalist, commentator and political author
• Zaid Al-Qassab, CMO, BT Group, responsible for 1,000 marketing & digital practitioners across the BT, EE & Plusnet brands
• Visha Naul, WACL Future Leader and Google/YouTube Marketer
